Privacy Policy

Esta Política de Privacidad se proporciona en inglés. Si tienes preguntas sobre su contenido, escríbenos a info@moveoutmoney.com. En caso de cualquier discrepancia, la versión en inglés prevalece.

This policy explains what information MoveOutMoney ("we") collects when you use moveoutmoney.com (the "Service"), how we use it, and the choices you have. The short version: we collect what we need to run your case, we don't sell your personal information, and your documents are used to serve you — not to train anything and not for advertising.

1. What we collect

Information you give us: your email address, the state you rent in, your situation (moving out / deposit withheld), names and mailing addresses you enter for letters, and case details you type in. Documents you upload:your lease or your landlord's letters. Text is extracted from documents in your browser; the extracted text (not the original file, in the current version of the Service) is sent to our servers for analysis. Payment information: processed entirely by Stripe — we receive confirmation of payment, the product purchased, and your email, but never your card number. Files you store in your evidence vault:photos, documents, and videos you choose to upload are stored privately in your case's file area on Amazon Web Services (S3), accessible only through your case link. Automatically collected: your approximate location (state level, from your IP address, provided by our hosting provider) used to show relevant state information; your language preference (stored in a cookie); and standard server logs.

Your case activity log: for active cases we keep a detailed record of case activity — when documents were analyzed, when letters were previewed, approved, and mailed, when we emailed you, and when your case pages were accessed — including the IP address and browser information associated with each action. This log exists for your benefit: it is your provable paper trail (approvals, timestamps, delivery records) if your dispute escalates, and it helps us secure your case against unauthorized access.

2. How we use it

To run your case: extracting facts from your documents, preparing the letters you approve, mailing them, tracking delivery, and calculating deadlines. To communicate with you about your case and respond to support requests. To operate, secure, and improve the Service. We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we do not use the contents of your documents for advertising.

Email:if you have a case with us, we send transactional email about it (confirmations, letter tracking, deadline alerts). If you used a free scan but haven't bought a product, we may send a small number of helpful follow-ups about the timeline your documents showed — every such email includes a working unsubscribe link, and one click stops them.

3. AI processing

Text extracted from your documents is processed by Anthropic's Claude API to identify facts like your deposit amount and notice requirements. This processing happens under our agreement with Anthropic as a service provider; per Anthropic's commercial API terms, API inputs and outputs are not used to train their models.

4. Who we share it with

Only service providers who help us run the Service, and only what they need: Stripe (payments), Lob (printing and mailing your letters — they receive the letter content and addresses, because they physically mail it), Anthropic (document text analysis), Amazon Web Services (hosting and data storage), Google(aggregate site analytics — see Cookies & analytics below). We may also disclose information if required by law, or in connection with a merger or acquisition (in which case this policy continues to apply to previously collected data).

5. Retention

We keep case information while your case is active and for a reasonable period afterward, because deposit disputes can resurface (statutes of limitation vary by state). You can ask us to delete your information sooner — see Your Rights below. Payment records are retained as required for tax and accounting purposes.

6. Security

Data is encrypted in transit; access to production systems is limited; payment credentials never touch our servers. No system is perfectly secure — if we learn of a breach affecting your personal information, we will notify you as required by law.

7. Your rights

You can request a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it by emailing info@moveoutmoney.com. California residents: we do not sell or share personal information as defined by the CCPA/CPRA, and you may exercise access and deletion rights via the same email. We honor these requests regardless of your state.

8. Cookies & analytics

We use a small number of functional cookies: your language preference and session-related state. We also use Google Analyticsto understand how the site is used in aggregate (pages visited, general location, device type), which sets Google's analytics cookies. We use this to improve the Service — not to build advertising profiles, and the contents of your case and documents are never sent to Google Analytics. You can opt out with Google's browser add-on (tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout) or by blocking analytics cookies. We do not use third-party advertising cookies.

9. Children

The Service is for adults 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

10. Changes & contact

We'll update the date above when this policy changes, and note material changes on the site. Questions: info@moveoutmoney.com.
